Ethiopian public and private parties met with Dutch public and private parties in the presence of Minister Ploumen of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation to discuss an investment program in agro production and logistic hubs. At the end of the session a letter of intent was signed by Dr. Mebrahtu Meles State Minister of Industry and head of the Ethiopian delegation and Nanno Kleiterp of FMO, representing the Dutch Flying Swans Consortium

43 "Ethiopia: IAIPs - Epicenter for Agricultural Commercialization”

According to the Ethiopian Herald, no country has achieved higher level of economic development without significantly scaling up its industrial capacity. Accordingly, industrial development is one of the major priority sectors that has received due emphasis in the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP-II). This is because, in the context of Ethiopia, industrial development has to start with aggro-processing industry as agriculture is the base of the country's economy. Thus, the manufacturing sector and particularly aggro-processing is central to transforming the structure of the economy from agriculture to industry.

44 Ethiopian and Djibouti high-level mission to the Netherlands on agro-logistics meets Minister Ploumen

From 14 to 19 February a delegation of high level government officials from Ethiopia and Djibouti visited the Netherlands. The programme focused on strengthening the agro logistics cooperation between Ethiopia, Djibouti and the Netherlands. The mission was aimed at promoting the export of perishables from Ethiopia and lower transport costs, therewith making products more competitive on international markets and stimulating economic growth.

48 Travellers can reach foreign ministry 24/7 at +31 247 247 247

Foreign minister Bert Koenders and travel expert Floortje Dessing have launched a new central helpline for travellers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can now be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at +31 247 247 247 for practical travel tips and assistance. Travellers abroad can also contact the Ministry online and via Twitter. It is estimated that about 3,000 people per day will use the new services.

49 NFP Tailor-Made Training programme 2016

EP-Nuffic has announced an extra call for the TMT programme specifically for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Ethiopia. It is only open for Joint Proposals submitted by an Ethiopian-registered SME together with a training provider in the Netherlands. At least 20% co-funding is a requirement. The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) promote capacity building by providing training and education for professionals. The NFP is fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation. EP-Nuffic is responsible for the management of the NFP. The deadline for applications has been postponed to 15 February 2016.
