On the occasion of the Dutch trade mission to Ethiopia and the Dutch Business Day in May 2016, the Netherlands Embassy together with the ENLBA captured the experience of Dutch businesses in Ethiopia on film. A short video giving you the ins and outs of doing business in Ethiopia is now available online. It provides insight into the companies present in Ethiopia, their experience in starting a company, the support of the government and advice for newcomers.
Since the 12 July 2016 there are reports of violent demonstrations in areas including but not limited to the city of Gondar (Amhara region, Ethiopia). The situation remains tense.
Ethiopia has strong ambitions to accelerate its agro-industry through the development of Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks (IAIPs). From 5 to 7 October the first International Agro-Industry Investment Forum will take place in Addis Ababa. The event will be hosted by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, His Excellency Mr. Hailemariam Desalegn.
Following our previous communication on the pre announcement, please be informed that the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia and The Netherlands, in its role as lead of the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP) in the Horn of Africa, have launched the call for proposals for the RDPP Ethiopia.
As part of the Partners for Water 2016-2021 programme, in mid July 2016, RVO.nl will open a new tender within the subsidy scheme. The Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment is currently setting up the scheme. The tender is expected to close on 31 August 2016.

In Addis Ababa on June 11th the ‘Euro 2016 in Addis’ football tournament took place. The Netherlands Embassy sponsored and trained Sahle Sellassie Football team, has won the tournament. The Sahle Sellassie Football team is made up of boys and girls under-15, coming from disadvantaged families. They had a wonderful day and they have demonstrated to be a truly a great asset to the sport.
From 17 to 20 May, a delegation of companies and knowledge institutions from the Netherlands visited Ethiopia. The delegation consisted of 24 representatives from Dutch companies and knowledge institutions active in agriculture and the agro-food sector, as well as other sectors. The mission was organized by the Embassy, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), in close cooperation with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels, Wageningen University and EP-Nuffic.
