141 Introduction biometric data Schengen visa

As of 6 June 2013 it is required that applicants for a Schengen visa will need to appear in person at Schengen countries’ consular points within Ethiopia for the provision of biometric data, i.e. fingerprints and a photograph. The biographic and biometric data of persons applying for a Schengen visa will be stored in a new Visa Information System (VIS). The VIS is a system for the exchange of visa data among Schengen Member States. These States share a common area of free movement without internal border controls. They have a common visa policy which includes exchanging information on visa applicants. The specific objectives of the VIS are to facilitate visa procedures, to enhance the security of the visa application process and to facilitate visa checks at the external borders of the Schengen Area.

Traditiegetrouw viert Nederland op de derde dinsdag in september Prinsjesdag. Deze dag begint met een Koninklijke stoet van Paleis Noordeinde naar de Ridderzaal. In het bijzijn van leden van het parlement en andere genodigden leest de Koningin de Troonrede voor aan het volk. Vervolgens wordt de begroting (de Miljoenennota) van het komend jaar gepresenteerd aan de Tweede Kamer door de Minister van Financiën, ditmaal door Jan-Kees de Jager.

143 Global summit on nuclear security in The Hague

The Nuclear Security Summit being hosted by the Netherlands in March 2014 will be held in the World Forum in The Hague, Minister of Foreign Affairs Uri Rosenthal announced today. Over 50 heads of state and government and representatives of international organisations are expected to attend the event, which will be chaired by the Dutch Prime Minister.
